The beach's toffee cream sands, though less popular than Dominical, remain a common place for visitors to drink in the natural beauty of the beach, the surrounding three sisters and whale islands, as well as the rich vegetation and mangrove forests that make up the national marine park.
The Whale Tail, also known as Uvita Point, is on the northern-tip of the beach. If you want to see it, make sure to check the tides. It's only possible to walk out to the point during low-tide and if you go too late you could get stuck as the waves roll in.
Visit May to October for the best chance of seeing Olive Ridley and hawksbill turtles nesting alone the shores or come July through November or December through March when humpback whales come back to the coast to give birth and raise their young.
