Below, birds feasting on baby fish, shrimps and crabs at low tide, sparkling flying fish come above the water surface calling the attention of the birds while still crocodiles float on the riverbank waiting for the right moment to catch a meal. Locals cast their lines hoping to catch a fish or two for their own meal or to sell.
As the tides meet the five river currents (Cata Solapa, Lomas, Viejo and La Garita) the water levels in the canal swell and the canals reflect dazzling landscapes from the dry forest and the mangroves. As the tides recede an underwater network of roots and wildlife is exposed to the naked eye with schools of baby fish, and those birds hunting for shrimps as well as baby crabs.
Tour departs from the end of the estuary located on the quiet north end of Tamarindo Beach where the boats moor.
